A couple of days ago, I received an email with an excellence award certificate for my participation in the 2024 International Competition conducted by Whitelock Art Center in NY, USA. I was really surprised, because I had missed somehow the email that was informing the participants of the award winners. As I had sent the last couple of months other works of mine at other competitions as well, I thought that my work was rejected for this competition as well. But no! Instead, I got an excellence award!

The honour of being noticed and selected is huge in my eyes, given that the submissions for the competition amounted to 4000.
About the competition:
“The judging panel at Whitelock Art Center adhered strictly to the evaluation criteria, emphasizing that the artworks should range from surrealistic illusions to realistic representations, or a combination and conflict between the two, reflecting a high level of abstract thinking. The panel encouraged artists to break free from traditional creative frameworks and conventions, expressing their unique perspectives on the dialogue between dreams and reality. In just over a month, Whitelock received over 4,000 submissions from artists worldwide. After a rigorous selection process, the final award-winning artists have been chosen.
The awarded artists come from the following countries and regions: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, China, Romania, South Korea, Ukraine, Greece, Hungary, Jamaica, and Taiwan.”

There was a digital exhibition for the awarded works of art. Here is a link to Whitelock Art Center’s webpage concerning the event and the digital exhibition:

These are the three artworks that were displayed on the gallery’s digital exhibition:

I had sent 5 artworks in total, you can see the other 2 here, in this screenshot from the gallery’s website, among all other participations, “Trip to India” (collage on paper, 30x42cm) & “Dream exercise” (inks and acrylic on paper, 30x42cm):

Concluding, I am not sure how to evaluate this whole thing. I am very thrilled for certain and it feels really nice to see that my art is valued and that it stood out among many other talented artists. It certainly gives me a boost and reinforces my strength to keep pursuing what I love doing most: creating art and spreading beauty around me as best as I can.
